my wood trim! and other happenings

Sometimes we make wise decisions in life. Sometimes we make really really foolish ones. Recently, Joseph and I made a very wise decision.
Although we planned on it, we will not be staining the humongous pile of wood for the house.
best. decision. ever.
Here are pictures of our awesome painter doing the stinky, time consuming job for us. Hurray!

We must document another Joseph-at-the-house-all-nighter.... he finished all the work I left undone and this was the night he finished the mud room

Here are some of the closets-- I don't have finished pictures of all of them

We also must document to a permanent place how incredibly out of square "Alisha's closet" turned out to be. Alisha's great idea remains great. However, for a good story, please take the time to ask Joseph what it took to put that closet in.

Timeline updates: The exterior guys are promising they will start next week. (Wouldn't that be nice!) Thanks to crazy-awful-ski weather everything that used to be under 4 feet of snow is now back again. So the piles of exterior rock that were delivered in November might be put on our house soon.

We have three weeks of Alan the painter finishing the staining and lacquering of all the wood and painting the whoooooole house.

Right now we are rushing to make paint color decisions, countertop decisions, flooring decisions, and bathroom decisions. If you have inspiration on any of these topics, feel free to call and share!

Oh, and door knobs. We decided on door knobs too.

If all goes smoothly, we are hoping for mid April!

i love our mudroom!!!!

From the beginning of this house building, I knew I needed a really, really great mudroom. With all the cabinet appointments and bids I've gone through, no one could build what I wanted without charging me too many thousands of dollars.

Enter Joseph.
He spent an evening on sketch up and figured out all the measurements for what I asked for. He prepared his materials and his cut list and then.... he built it!

Here is the beginning...

and then!!!

ta da!

I love our mudroom now! yay!
